Dr. Ray Pun has made extraordinary contributions to LIS education, professional practice, and leadership within the CALA community and beyond, making him a highly deserving candidate for the CALA Distinguished Service Award. Notable examples include his transformative leadership during his tenure as CALA President, particularly during the association’s 50th anniversary celebration, where he significantly grew membership to over 500 individuals, fostered diversity, and established the Asia-Pacific Chapter of CALA. His efforts also encompassed organizing impactful professional development activities, such as numerous webinars, partnerships with other library associations, and advocacy initiatives that elevated CALA’s voice on both national and international stages. Furthermore, his forward-thinking governance reforms strengthened the association’s operations and enhanced collaboration opportunities. Dr. Pun’s dedication, strategic vision, and passion for service have left a lasting impact on CALA, shaping its future direction for years to come. In summary, his exceptional leadership, advocacy, and service make him highly deserving of the CALA Distinguished Service Award.
