Call for CALA's IFLA Registration Grant (2016)

Dear CALA members,

I'm happy to announce that CALA has made available 10 new 2016 IFLA Registration Grant to help CALA members cover the cost of 2016 IFLA World Library and Information Congress early registration fee (please register as IFLA member, CALA’s IFLA membership code is US-0009). 

Applicant Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a CALA member in good standing for three consecutive years (6 months for student member), including the year of application.
  • ALA IFLA Fellowship recipients are NOT eligible for this grant.

Application Requirements:

A complete application, including the required documents, should be emailed to Zheng (Jessica) Lu (zjlu@usfca.edu) and Guoying Liu (gliu@uwindsor.ca), Co-Chairs of the CALA Conference Travel Grant Committee.

All applications must be submitted and received by the deadline of March 31, 2016.

Required application materials include:

  • A completed CALA 2016 IFLA Registration Grant Application Form 
  • A statement outlining the needs and benefits of the grant (no more than 500 words).
  • Supporting documentation that denotes the applicant's professional or administrative responsibility at the conference, e.g., a copy of conference invitation letter, abstract of presentation/paper/poster, recommendation letter from supervisor, peers or faculty adviser.
  • Updated CV.

Application Review Criteria:

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the CALA Travel Grant Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant’s service and contribution to CALA, including the number of years being a CALA member, and capacities served on committees or taskforces
  • Applicant’s professional experience and accomplishments
  • CALA’s organization priorities and project development
  • The benefits and/or impact of the conference to the applicant individually and to CALA as an organization
  • Other merits of consideration.

Grant recipients will be notified no later than April 30, 2016

Grant Recipient Requirements:

Each grant recipient must submit a one-page report of his/her experience to the CALA Travel Grant Committee, within the two months following the conference s/he attended.  The submitted reports will be posted on the CALA website and published in the CALA Newsletter.

Each grant recipient must submit a registration receipt to CALA Treasurer for reimbursement of the registration fee.

All grant recipients are strongly encouraged to volunteer to serve on CALA committees and task forces.  

For cancellations for any reason other than documented illness, family emergency, or other unavoidable and documented circumstances, registration will not be reimbursed by CALA.
