Position: Assistant Head, Electronic Resource Management

Northeastern University seeks applications from and nominations for energetic, creative, and self-motivated individuals to join its newly re-energized, service-oriented, and forward-looking Library team.
Reporting to the Head of the Resource Management Department in the Library’s Scholarly Resources Division, the Assistant Head is responsible for acquisition of all materials with special emphasis on electronic resources purchasing, licensing, access, and maintenance. The librarian in this position will bring to bear a broad and deep understanding of the complexities of acquisitions, electronic resource management and related technical services best practices; will be expected to provide leadership, innovation, and enthusiasm in charge of the work of the E-Resource Management unit; and will have responsibility for hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating staff, and for managing the priorities and day-to-day activities of the unit. The successful candidate will interact regularly with a range of the Library’s materials vendors (including publishers) to solve problems, while working closely with other units of the Department and the Division, as well as with other library departments, to support collection development, test new software, develop new systems, and move forward the Library’s ambitious digital program.
