Queens Library is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Community Library Services to lead and develop 20 community libraries (branches). If you have what it takes to be part of our team, let us know about yourself.
As a part of our team, you will develop and implement service goals to deliver quality public library services. Plan, organize, direct, evaluate, and continuously improve the individual effectiveness of services and programs for community libraries; direct the professional development, evaluation and use of staff and other resources to ensure that customers receive high-quality responsive customer service. Coach, supervise, and manage performance for 20 community library managers.
An MLS from an ALA accredited library school and eligibility for NYS librarian certification required. A minimum of five years of demonstrated library management experience required. At least two years experience with responsibility for multiple public libraries highly preferred. Experience in a large library system, consortium or state library preferred. Demonstrated experience in collection development required. Ability to set and effectively manage performance. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with exceptional interpersonal skills and creative problem solving ability required. Must have a valid driver's license. At least 50% of time will be spent in the field – this is not a desk job. EOE.
