The 2012 CALA Southeast (SE) Election had been held from June 11, 2012 to June 25, 2012. After a careful review, the 2012 CALA Southeast (SE) Nomination and Election Committee is very pleased to declare the following election results:

27 e-ballots were generated and sent. 21 votes were cast and the participation rate was 77.8%.

Congratulations to Ying Zhang, Acquisitions Librarian at the University of Central Florida, who has been elected to be the Vice President/President-Elect (2012-2013) and Yue Xu, Web Services Librarian at the University of Memphis, who has been elected to be the Membership Officer (2012 -2014).

The 2012 CALA Southeast (SE) Nomination and Election Committee would like to thank all chapter members who participated in this online election and executed their rights to select new leaders in our chapter.

We would like to extend a special thank-you to Vincci Kwong from CALA, who kindly offered her professional support throughout our election process, from generating e-ballots to summarizing results.

Wenxian Zhang

On May 8, 2013, Professor Wenxian Zhang, Head of Archives & Special Collections at Olin Library, gave a research presentation during the annual conference of the Society of Florida Archivists held in Tallahassee, Florida. Under the theme of "Research and Publishing as an Archivist" and along with Burt Altman of Florida State University and Mary Flekke of Florida Southern College, Zhang shared his experiences engaging in research using institutional resources, which not only promote the awareness of the collections, but also enable librarians gain insights from users' perspective, which in turn help them provide improved services to information users. The session was well received, and 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Florida Archivists.

Luo Zhou

Luo Zhou, Chinese studies librarian at Duke University Libraries curate an exhibition with Guo-Juin Hong, entitled "Beijing Through Sidney Gamble's Camera", which will run June 16-30 and Oct. 14-30 at Capital Library of China as part of the library's centennial celebration this year. An opening ceremony and reception will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. A public talk with the exhibit curators, Guo-Juin Hong and Luo Zhou of Duke University and Beijing specialist Han Pu, will take place from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19.
