Is this an interim or annual report ?  Annual Report

List significant activities the committee has done since the last report.

The Committee made two calls in March and April 2013 for CALA’s Spring Newsletter.

The Committee, consisting of editors Priscilla Yu and Sai Deng were very fortunate to receive many excellent submissions this past year.  We also were pleased to see so many active chapters, conferences being organized and programs with well-known international and national speakers.  We worked hard to collect and encourage members to submit reports and photos on time.

Priscilla Yu collected, selected and spent an enormous amount of energy editing and sorting the various articles and reports. Materials for feature articles on conferences, recognition of CALA members’ achievements and publications came in astounding numbers.  Priscilla received an advanced uncorrected work to be published from a Chinese American author, who wanted it announced in CALA Newsletter —eventually the work was published into a book.  Everyone seems to know about CALA Newsletter. The Newsletter has gained quite a reputation. We should be all very proud of the hard work and accomplishments which our CALA colleagues have attained.  Over a dozen publications by our CALA colleagues were mentioned and more than half a dozen of our colleagues have received honors.  I have read and proofread the Newsletter several times before sending to CALA’s Website and Listserv.  Sai Deng was responsible for the beautiful design and column setting of the issue. She also chose highlights for articles and worked with column names. The Newsletter was created using Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 and then saved as a .pub file and converted to a PDF file for wider distribution.  Sai sent out the PDF Newsletter file to CALA’s Web Chair to be added to CALA’s Website.

Thanks to Esther Lee (CALA President), Haipeng Li (Executive Director), and Sally Tseng (CALA Honorary Executive Director), we received fantastic reports on the conferences in Dongguan, in Guangzhou, and the conference in Hong Kong.

Reports on the amazing accomplishments of Esther Lee’s 2012-2013 Presidential Initiatives are included in this issue.

List committee’s recommendations, if any, to the Board
