  1. CALA Local Arrangement Committee

Several CALA SCA members are serving on the 2012 CALA Local Arrangement Committee.  Co-Chaired by Ying Xu and Manuel Urrizola, the Committee includes SCA members: Win Shih, Yongyi Song, Joy Wang, Maggie Wang and Wenwen Zhang.  The group made banquet and local transportation arrangements with a local restaurant and bus company, prepared entertainment program, as well as provided technical support for the 2012 CALA Annual Program and Awards Banquet at Anaheim.

  1. SCA Annual membership meeting

The SCA Executive Board is planning the chapter's Annual program that will take place at Monterey Park in February, 2013.  The theme of the program is: What does it mean to be a librarian today and in the future?  The program includes a keynote speaker-led workshop on public speaking, a panel discussion on the future librarianship, and presentations by chapter members.

  • Sally Tseng, CALA Honorary Executive Director and Representatives to the Library Society of China, provided coordination and arrangement for CALA/USA delegates, led by Esther Lee, CALA President, to attend the 2012 Chinese Library Annual Conference and Exhibition in Dongguan, China, November 21 to 24, 2012; the Library Management and Service Forum in Guangzhou Library, Guangdong Province, Nov. 24-27, 2012; a Colloquial and a RDA Seminar were held at the Hong Kong Baptist University Library in Hong Kong on Nov. 28 and 29 respectively.  Sally Tseng was invited to speak on RDA at a special RDA Seminar by the HKBU which was ardently welcomed by over 100 librarians from Hong Kong.   • Wenwen Zhang, Manager, West Covina Library, CoLAPL (County of Los Angeles Public Library) translated orally Margaret Todd’s presentation at the Library Management and Service Forum in Guangzhou Library on Nov. 25, 2012.  Margaret Todd is the County Librarian, County of Los Angeles Public Library.
