The Southwest Chapter currently includes tens members. This report is a summary of our activities for the past year.
CALA-SW Chapter activity at the ALA midwinter Conference
Several chapter members attended the ALA Midwinter conference held at Dallas TX in January 2012. Guopeng Zhang, President, and Irene Ke, President for 2010-2011, attended the board meeting. Irene Ke created a basket of Chinese tea gifts for JCC fund raising.
CALA-SW Chapter Program at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference
The Southwest Chapter hosted a program at the Texas Library Association (TLA) Annual Conference in Houston in April 18, 2012. Our program title was Toddlers, Touch Technology, and Family Learning. The object of the topic is to develop new technology sills together in a facilitated setting for family and community. The main speaker was Monica Wong, a librarian at Northwest Campus, EL Paso Community College, Texas. Monica is a CALA Southwest Chapter member.
Social Activity in the Houston Area
We had a lunch after the TLA program. There were seven members included Guopeng Zhang, the current president, and Hui-Fen Chang, the elect-president, attend the gathering. We had a long conversation on the academic library issues, future, and professional experiences.

There has been no success so far in finding any members interested to be Vice President for 2012-13, an election has been held.
