Auraria Library has an opening for a full-time Web Librarian. The position is located in the Library Systems Department which oversees hardware and software installation and maintenance, the Library’s web site, and integrated library system administration. This position is one of four in the department. While this position concentrates on web work, the other three deal with software and hardware installation and maintenance, networking and the technical aspects of the integrated library system.

Job Responsibilities: Reporting to the Coordinator of Library Systems, this position will provide leadership and technical assistance in the development and administration of web-based library services and serve as part of the five person Library Systems staff. Duties include participation in strategic planning to meet technological goals and needs; articulation of a vision for the Library web sites by working with the Library faculty and staff; coordination of Library web site content development, including evaluation of content and services, development of guidelines and standards, and management of the daily maintenance of the web sites including the Library intranet; instruction of Library faculty and staff in creating and maintaining web pages and developing written tutorials and other documentation to support use of the web site; and maintaining an awareness of current web-related issues.
Required Qualifications: A master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science. Excellent communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students; experience in website development and maintenance; demonstrated programming experience and knowledge of web development tools, especially PHP and HTML. Demonstrated experience with web editing and development software tools such as Dreamweaver; with graphics creation programs such as Adobe Photoshop; and in building interactive applications and applied knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
Preferred Qualifications: ALA-accredited master’s degree or foreign equivalent preferred. Experience in an academic library performing web development; designing library web OPACs; and developing streaming audio and video applications.
