Research Library Director
The New York State Library is seeking to fill the position of Research Library Director at the New York State Library. The individual who becomes the next director of the Research Library will have the unique opportunity and challenge of leading a major public research library with historical and manuscript treasures collected since 1818, while meeting the information needs of all New Yorkers through the statewide virtual library (NOVEL) and other strategic uses of technology.
The Research Library Director reports directly to the State Librarian and Assistant Commissioner for Libraries and oversees a staff of 170; a research collection with over 20 million items; and a budget of $10.7 million. Responsibilities include NOVEL, the New York Online Virtual Electronic Library, and the Talking Book and Braille Library. Requirements: A Master's degree in library and information studies from an ALA-accredited institution and at least 8 years of post-degree professional library experience, 3 years of which included management experience in a research or academic library.
Salary: $91,789 - $116,173
