Position: Reference Librarian/Instruction Coordinator

The Cushwa-Leighton Library at Saint Mary’s College is seeking a Reference Librarian/Instruction Coordinator to lead an active and growing information literacy program on campus.
The person in this position will provide leadership in the design, development, marketing, delivery and assessment of innovative library instructional programs for an undergraduate population. They will work to integrate information literacy and research skills across the curriculum. Major responsibilities include: coordinating instructional activities, collaborating with faculty in all departments and programs and supporting the training needs of reference librarians who provide instruction. Other duties include participation in classroom instruction and providing reference services (includes some evening and weekend hours). The successful candidate will be expected to be active in service to the College and to the profession and in scholarship appropriate to the tenure process. The position reports to the Library Director.
MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited library school; knowledge of established and emerging instructional methods and technologies. Preferred: One to three years experience in providing instruction and reference services in an academic library; familiarity with developments in instructional technology and trends in pedagogy; demonstrated ability to teach using new instructional and multimedia technologies; experience with web site development and online tutorials; ability to work and interact harmoniously with a diverse staff and user population; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
