RESPONSIBILITIES: The Reference and Research Services—Social Sciences Librarian provides both general and specialized reference services, which includes traditional and electronic services and evening and weekend hours. Participates in the Library's instruction program, which includes course-related instruction sessions, for-credit courses and instructional workshops. Contributes to the development of the Library’s collections. Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students in assigned areas. As a member of the library faculty, this position is responsible for achievement in librarianship, research and creative activity, and service. This position reports to the Head of the Reference & Research Services Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program by date of hire. Strong commitment to public service and outreach. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, student, and community members. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and adapt to change. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred: Academic or work experience in the social sciences. Teaching or training experience in a classroom setting. Experience using and teaching a variety of print and electronic resources.
