Election Statement:

Since the day I joined CALA as a life member, I regarded it more than
a professional association.  I hold the
belief that CALA belongs to every member and should provide a platform where
members have the sense of belonging and feel motivated to engage and support
each other.   I also believe the healthy
growth of CALA depends on participation from each individual members and making
connections with other associations/ institutions to expand our vision.   Therefore, with this nomination, my election
statement includes the following initiative and advocacy.

Internal Aspect:

  • Enhance communication among members, the board of
    directors, committees, and chapters
  • Develop CALA career/interest groups to assist
    members' professional development
  • Update member directory by regions to help
communication and networking among local chapter members
  • Conduct yearly survey to communicate and solicit
inputs from members to improve services

External Aspect:

  • Promote CALA's connection with ALA
    divisions and round tables
  • Involve ALA's
important initiatives which match CALA's vision and belief
  • Advocate development of future leaders and
recruitment of next generation of Chinese Americans to join CALA
  • Expand relationships with global partners to
    exchange resources and experiences
