Phoenix Public Library has an annual budget of $39 million, over 600 employees, an annual circulation of over 14 million items and state of the art automated systems. Position: LIBRARIAN I, LIBRARIAN II, AND LIBRARIAN III

Librarian I - $41,101 - $61,214 annualized.
Librarian II - $45,198 - $67,642 annualized.
Librarian III - $52,603 - $78,562 annualized.
Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.
All classifications require a Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution. The skills to provide exceptional customer service are essential. The ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable for all positions. Specific requirements include:
Librarian II - two years of experience in professional library work in specialized areas such as: children's, teens, adult services etc.
Librarian III - three years of experience in professional library work including one year experience performing the full range of advanced, professional library work, and one year of supervising professional and entry level employee's. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Positions perform professional library work at the Central Library, at branches, or in the Technical Services Division and responsibilities increase respectively. Librarians are responsible for providing innovative, creative approaches to goal setting, planning, customer service and managing staff. Duties may include providing book selection, reference, and reader advisory services and progress to specialized collection selection, supervision of a branch or a Central Library unit. In Technical Services duties range from cataloging to acquisitions, license negotiations, and supervision. Vacancies are anticipated over the life of this eligible (hiring) list.
Employment is contingent upon the employee meeting background checks and fingerprinting standards for positions that work with children. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. Some positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on city business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.
Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
