Executive Director’s Report

Over the years, CALA has
experienced ups and downs, good and bad, successes and failures, but one thing
is for sure: CALA has grown a great deal; CALA has become more visible; and
CALA has become stronger. To all who loves this wonderful organization, I send
my admiration and respect.

When I was reading President Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope, I could not help
but think of CALA as an organization. As President Obama said in his book, the
audacity of hope is really an American spirit. "...having the audacity to believe despite all the evidence to
the contrary that we could restore a sense of community to a nation torn by
conflict; the gall to believe that despite personal setbacks, the loss of a job
or an illness in the family or a childhood mired in poverty, we had some
control-and therefore responsibility--over our own fate. It was that audacity,
I thought, that joined us as one people."

This
spirit of audacity, I believe, is what CALA needs, to be able to stand firm in
our beliefs and work towards our dreams.
To achieve that, we all need to work together, stay united, and strive
for the common cause. That's the only way we will get stronger, as a result of
which, CALA will become a better and more professional organization.

At
times we, as human beings, are blinded by what's happening before our eyes at
the moment. We tend to forget things that are likely to come to us in the
future if we all work hard toward that common goal. It is always good for us to
remind ourselves as individuals and as an organization that we have a great
future ahead of us. And toward that future, we strive, for the excellence we
deserve.

I very much appreciate the trust of our
members to elect me again to be the association's executive director for the
next three years. I also appreciate the opportunity to work for our members, to
create more opportunities for them, and to build stronger teams to accomplish
our goals. I challenge all of us to dare the "audacity of hope," to embrace the
spirit of our beliefs, and to rise higher, all the way to the top of the
mountain!

Let's
all work together to better our association and better ourselves!
