LIST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES THE COMMITTEE HAS DONE SINCE LAST REPORT:
The Committee confirmed the speaker and panels for the Annual Conference Program for 2008-2009.

The Theme (same):

"International Outreach and Leadership: CALA 21st Century Librarians Seminar Series"

The Program Description (no change):

To develop formal structure within CALA to coordinate the CALA 21st Century Librarian Seminar Series and other training programs in China is the first action areas in the goal of "Become a Leader in Global Reach Initiatives" in the CALA 2010 Strategic Plan approved by CALA Board on June 10, 2007. With four years' practices, the CALA 21st Century Librarians Seminar Series has conducted in more than ten academic and public libraries in many cities in China. More than 40 CALA members, including former ALA President Barbara Ford, joined the series and trained or exchanged their experience and knowledge with Chinese librarians. The program is to review its origin, development, and impact, share the experience from the series with other librarians nationwide, and plan for the future. Our five panelists will present several successful outreach programs to the Chinese libraries in different views.

Note:
Lisa Zhao (UIC) will prepare handout for Management of Applications and Preparation of Presentations

NEXT WORK PLAN BEFORE JUNE 30TH 2009:

  1. Finalize the speakers with their individual topics;
  2. Ask the speakers to send us their brief bio;
  3. Prepare the program flyer and pamphlet.
