The University of California, Santa Cruz Library invites applications for an innovative, energetic and collaborative Head of Technical Services to lead, coordinate, and administer the Library’s Technical Services Department, encompassing Acquisitions, Electronic Resources/Serials, and Cataloging/Metadata Services. The position manages a staff of eight engaged in procurement, organization and description, and maintenance of library materials in all formats and online access to information for effective discovery and delivery.
This person will lead our ongoing transformative efforts to enhance and streamline Technical Services processes and services through development of practical solutions that may include creative problem-solving, workflow analysis, assimilation of multiple perspectives and continual exploration and adaption of new technological skills and tools. This person will also engage in University of California system-wide initiatives like Next Generation Technical Services, which has the goal of redesigning technical services workflows in order to take advantage of new system-wide capabilities and tools, minimize redundant activities, improve efficiency, and foster innovation.
