CALA Seminar at Dongguan Public Library-Brief Report

December 15-18 2007 at Guangdong Province, China

Dear CALA Members:

Happy New Year!

I am pleased to report on the success of the Dongguan Public Library seminar project in Guangdong Province, China, from December 15-18, 2007. This project is one of the CALA 21st Century Librarian Seminar efforts organized and co-sponsored by the Dongguan Public Library and CALA.

ALA President, Loriene Roy, was invited to participate in the Dongguan Public Library seminar. According to the reports from seminar participants, the project was well conducted and very successful.

The CALA team to Dongguan Public Library also consisted of Lili Li from Georgia Southern University, and Jing Liao from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Both presenters were warmly received by the Dongguan Public Library. They worked hard on their presentations which were also very well received.

The project was successful thanks to the well-coordinated efforts by the CALA 21st Century Librarian Seminar Task Force, the International Relations Committee, and particularly Guoqing Li, and Lisa Zhao, co-chairs of the IRC. All of their efforts are appreciated.

To view some of the photos and reports (some are yet to come)on the seminar, please go to CALA website at, CALA Twenty-first Century Librarian Seminar Series, 2007, under Photos and Reports. Enjoy!
