We are proud to share with you that two CALA life members, Dr. Clara Chu, chair and professor at the Department of Library and information Studies, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Jian-zhong "Joe" Zhou, head of reference, California State University - Sacramento Library, have won 2011 ALA Diversity Research Grants. Complete news is available at http://ala.org/ala/newspresscenter/news/pr.cfm?id=7690 .

Dr. Chu's first grant winning project is "Information Needs and Barriers of Southeast Asian Refugee Undergraduates", and Joe Zhou's grant project is "Achievement Gap of Asian American Professional Librarians at the Top of Career Ladders."  We can't wait to hear their research results at the ALA Annual Conference next year in Anaheim.  Congratulations to both award winning scholars - Dr. Clara Chu and Mr. Jian-zhong Joe Zhou!
