Health Sciences Librarian

Positon Overview

Butler University Libraries invite applications for a Health Sciences Librarian position with a 12-month, continuing (non-tenured) faculty appointment. This position serves as the liaison librarian in support of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS), with an emphasis on support for new initiatives related to health sciences.

Responsibilities: This position collaborates with faculty in COPHS to facilitate the development of life-long learners with a liberal arts foundation to serve as dedicated, competent health professionals and community leaders. The Health Sciences Librarian provides course-integrated library instruction in support of program-based student learning outcomes, leads collection development for health sciences programs, and provides research support for faculty and students. As a library faculty member, the person in this position also engages in scholarly activities and provides service to the university. This position supports the new vision, priorities, and strategic goals to realign library services to meet the current and future information needs of students and faculty.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a Master's of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution, educational background in the health sciences, and ability to meet minimum qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor as stated in 20.30.30.B.2.a of the Butler University Faculty Handbook. Candidates with a second degree in a health sciences field will receive preference.
